Alyssa’s father, Dr. Santhosh Thomas says that he can’t figure out how and why his daughter’s name turned up in the no-fly list of suspected terrorists. The family was intimated of the shocking piece of information on their trip from Cleveland to Minneapolis by flight. Though the family was allowed to board the flight on that day, the authorities asked them to contact the US Department of Homeland Security for clarification. The curiosity value of the topic reached its peak when the family received a letter from the government, addressed to 6 year old Alyssa conveying the stand that nothing in her file will be changed. The authorities concerned have acknowledged that a no-fly list exists even if they haven’t made it clear on whose names are in the list and the reasons for the inclusion. The sole comment on the list was from a spokesperson for the Transportation Security Administration who said, "The watch lists are an important layer of security to prevent individuals with known or suspected ties to terrorism from flying," which still fails to explain why a 6-year old’s name is in that list.
